Week with Mt. Airy and Enoree Young Adults!!

30 Jul

What a fantastic week we have had!!  We were able to work with the teams from Mt. Airy and Enoree!!  I tell you what, these were top-notch young people!  They were such hard workers and polite and encouraging to us!!  They were able to do kids clubs for 3 days and go door to door in Cipreses!!  It was awesome!  Yesterday we were able to all go to the orphanage of Don Victor and Dona Melba!  We played with the kids all day long!  Mrs. Melba let us know that they had never had Kentucky Fried Chicken and there is a new KFC in Cartago, so we went over to KFC and got a ton of chicken for them!!  They seemed to really enjoy that!!  Also, my dad arranged for toothbrushes to be brought down for the orphanage and we were able to deliver those!  Toothbrushes here – really cheap ones – are about $2 each and so these were probably worth $4 each and we delivered 144 adult toothbrushes, plus a bunch of kids toothbrushes and toothpaste!!  Can you imagine having to buy toothbrushes for close to 40 people regularly?  It was awesome!!

Oh, and of course we had chili night!!  This one was a bit different!  We all met at Jorge’s trout restaurant so we would have more space!  We invited ticos to come and practice their English!  So they got to eat chili and have an English lesson and then Chris presented the Gospel to them!  2 people prayed to receive Christ!  One was one of the new bus drivers and one was a guy named Andre.  Please pray for Andre especially as he is battling against alcoholism.  In Christ, all things are possible and he is now in Christ and Christ is in him!!  🙂  And Chris M. was their contestant in the jalapeno eating contest.  Unfortunately, his attempt was interrupted by all of the events going on around him and rightly so – they were more important!!  But he was not able to surpass Kristen’s record from Glenwood!!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers!  Please continue to pray for my health.  I am doing better than last week!!  🙂  I am praising the Lord for that!!  Pray for those that we are following up with and for the new believers to continue to attend Bible studies!  We had the first Bible study on a Sunday in Cipreses!  Please pray for those who are new to Christ to continue to grow with/in the Lord!  We love you all and will keep you posted on what all is going on here!!

Dear Little Sis, What a beautiful time your are having and giving to the young adults who come for mission visits. Years ago God started putting this idea into the minds of mission organizations. When it was fist begun, no one could envision what excitement was in store. And you write so well , it makes us feel like we were there ! Glad you’ve had a better week. I can identify w/some of that struggle. Mine is not a rare condition- a common one called aging. Am making a trip to Kershaw in the middle of Aug. w/daughter Margaret and while making preps for that I have had various physical problems. But God has been faithful to keep me trusting Him. Thanks for being our rep. there and so good at the frequents posts !!, Big Sis
