Mount Moriah Baptist Church Costa Rica Team 2011

If you would like to check out the photos we took during Mount Moriah Baptist’s trip to Costa Rica, check them out at this link…..

We were so blessed by this team coming to serve with us in Costa Rica.  Not only did they share their testimonies of our Lord’s  glorious work in their lives, conduct Bible studies, lead singing and play with the children, but most importantly, they shared God’s love with the Ticos and our family!  What a joy and privilege to have them!

Quick MMBC Update! :)

We have had a great week so far with the group from Mount Moriah Baptist Church!  They have been sharing their testimonies and leading Bible studies!

We had a great Sunday! We had over some of the people attending Jacob’s Bible studies. We had a big chili lunch! Everyone gathered around our big picnic table and ate together like a family! We all chatted together and it was really neat to see everyone interacting! The kids then played and ran around the yard and all the adults sat around and talked and shared and got to know eachother better! Really a time of growing as a family!

Saturday we had the women’s tea! It went really well. I translated, which went better than I expected and everyone seemed to have a great time! Lizzie and Sophia had made a cake and brownies which the ladies seemed to really enjoy! None of them had ever had brownies before and they ate them all, which made Lizzie and Sophia really happy with their accomplishments!! I have been taking them around with me to buy groceries and showing them how to pick out the good veg and fruit and teaching them to bake and cook, so they really enjoyed others eating their food! Lynn and Shelia had baked with them the night before the cake and the brownies, so it was fun all around. The team seems to be having a great time and are really encouraging us!! We have really been blessed by them!

Oh, and we played with the kids in lower Cipreses Saturday morning. Everyone had a great time, however, Greg seems to have pulled his hamstring and is hurting pretty bad. I am sure that he would love your prayers for less pain and healing. Tomorrow Gus, Shelia, Greg and Lynn are going to Orosi and the rest of us are keeping on keeping on.

Such an exciting week behind us and ahead of us! I tried out my lesson on them for the conference. They seemed to think it went well. But I am continuing to work on it! OK, that was alot!!

Please keep us all in your prayers!  Please also keep Jacob’s sister Lynn as she was hospitalized last week and the doctors are still trying to figure out what all is going on.  She is back home now.

As far as our financial situation, we will not know anything until we get our financial reports from Global Outreach at the beginning of March.  Thank you for all of your prayers and encoragement!  We love you all!

He is faithful

This is a blog that we were hoping not to write.  But in the end, we want to show how God can work and, we fully believe, will work all of this out for His glory.  So I will tell you all about yesterday.  God’s timing is perfect.  His ways are perfect.  And all He does is good and for His glory…..

Yesterday, Jacob went to do the Bible study up in Santa Rosa.  It is a Bible study that he has had up there for the past 6 months or so.  While he was gone, I received an email that we had been waiting on because it was either going to be really amazing or show us that the Lord was going to have to do something really amazing in the near future.  I opened it, and my stomach dropped.  It was not as we had hoped and it was going to take God to move in the situation in an amazing way and I started waiting on Jacob to arrive so that I could deliver the news.  He is usually gone to this study for 2 hours….the time ticked by… was now around 3 hours when he finally came through the door……

He was beaming.  He was beside himself, so excited.  He said he had great news!  He said that a young man named Nelson had prayed to receive Christ and to quote Nelson, “Hoy es el dia de salvacion!”  Today is the day of salvation!  We were praising the Lord and still are for this latest new brother in Christ!  Thank you Lord, salvation is from you and your free gift!  🙂

Now it was my turn to share my news….. For the first time since 2008, we are without funds and actually have a negative balance with Global Outreach.  We have been running $1000 short a month, however, each time we have gotten low, the Lord has sent thousands of dollars to replenish our funds without us saying a word or asking for it.  We had been praying that this would be the case again.  In God’s providence this has not happened.  Not only were we $1000 short as usual, but we were short around $2000 in January, which completely depleted our funds.

We sat the kids down.  Talked to them about the situation.  Then all 5 of us prayed together.  (So sweet to hear the kids pray – even more in that they prayed first for my health and second for God’s provision and guidance in this situation)  We were overwhelmed by God’s peace.

It was like He was telling us, “Just wait and watch.  You are in my hands, so are your finances and I love the Ticos and I love you so don’t take up this burden.  Leave it with me.  You keep doing the work and I’ll keep providing.”

We have decided to share about our finances with you all because we want you all to be able to rejoice with us when we are able to return to Costa Rica after our time in the States.  We want you all to see God’s hand at work.

What do we need?  One thing….we need you all to pray.  Please join us in praying over this and we will keep you posted.  🙂

Another prayer request is that we are hosting our second team next week!  We are so excited about that!  A group is coming from our home church Mount Moriah Baptist and it includes Jacob’s parents (the kids are counting down the days)!  Please pray for this team’s work here.  They will be here from the 15th – 25th!

Thank you in advance for your prayers.  Let’s rest in the Lord and watch His faithful hand work.  We love you all.  His Joy is our strength.  Our main message to the Ticos is salvation by grace and faith alone.  And we will remain here working with them by God’s grace.  To Him be the glory and honor.
